Roger Federer Nearly Loses in the First Round at Wimbledon

No question this would have been the worst loss of his career. Fed had to come back from 2 sets down and win a 4th set tie break to avoid losing in the first round at Wimbledon – to a nobody nonetheless. Alejandro Falla had never won more than one match in 5 tries at Wimbledon.
Didn’t see the match at all but I gather by the 7-1 score in the 4th set tie break and Fed winning the 5th 6-0 he found his game. And Falla was probably demoralized early in that tie break.
Ski can vouch that I claimed Roddick was my #2 pick to win the event this year to Fed. Meaning I think the championship match will be played in the semifinals this year. But a result like this by Fed might make me reconsider who is the favorite in that match. I wouldn’t mind seeing Roddick take it down this year - he has put in a lot of noticeable work and upgraded his weaknesses since Fed and Nadal took over the tennis world. Roddick could have taken his one US Open win and mailed in a fairly good career because he doesn’t have the game to compete with these guys anywhere but Wimbledon.
Nadal got a tad bit hosed in the draw this year. To win the title he would have to go through John Isner (6’9″ massive serving up and coming American ranked in the top 20 already), Robin Soderling, Andy Murray, and the Roddick/Fed winner. That’s a Sports-Idol “BRUUUTAL”.

maybe someone should come out with a “reasons tennis sucks”
I’ll give you a head start:
It’s boring
It’s full of faggy Euros
It’s boring
Gimmicky surfaces
Lots of faggy Euros crying all the time
‘retiring’ because your socks aren’t fitting right
Headbands that even Sasha Vujacic think are girly
Men wearing capri pants
Boring as shit

Go for it.
Major difference is no one is calling Tennis the worlds greatest sport. I’m sick of having soccer shoved down my throat and being told that I’m the one who doesn’t get it. If soccer was as obscure as Tennis it wouldn’t show up on my hatedar.

That last comment by 3D is probably the only one I agree with from this site so far.

Will be interesting to see how the next few matches go. If he struggles in those he could be in big trouble. Roddick played him very tough last year so it wouldn’t surprise me if he loses to him. It’s only a matter of time before Fed loses it. It always goes quickly in tennis, except for Agassi.

Quizz is slow and averages 4 yards a carry, cool. King James beats him on the field and his baby momma off it.

Agassi’s body had the benefit for not grinding out a brutal schedule for a couple years when he mentally lost it and didn’t play for a while. Nobody really plays well into their 30s but I do want to see him win a few more. I bet his next goal is to top Pete’s 7 Wimbledon wins.

obscure as Tennis
I don’t think you can say tennis is obscure. All the grand slams in tennis are on television in usa (annually, each 2 weeks long) and quite a few more tournaments are on espn.
Tennis TV coverage > Soccer TV coverage
+2 … Men wearing capri pants
