Tom Izzo To Cleveland Cavaliers?

Frankly I think there was a better chance of him coming to Oregon than going to Cleveland, but it’s worth noting that the News-Herald is reporting the Cavs have made an offer. This has disaster written all over it. Does anyone think Izzo’s grinder style would work in the NBA? Think he’d be able to conduct his suicide rebounding drills in the Association? You don’t? Well neither do I. Izzo obviously likes to be courted, evidence by how far he let the Oregon courtship go (according to “sources” he had more than one meeting with Oregon people). But this would be a horrible move for both Izzo and the Cavs and I don’t see it happening. This is just a ploy from both parties to get their names in the news.

Did Oregon email over their coaching short list to Cleveland? Maybe Billy Donovan is next? Tubby Smith?

I actually think Izzo would do well in the NBA.
This is based on the assumption that he “gets it” and realizes that unlike in college, the players are the faces of this league. Gone would be the ridiculous drills where they mash each other with spiked clubs while shooting lay ups, but I still gotta believe he can coach really good defensive basketball.
His success isn’t really predicated on a kind of gimmicky style, like Pitino and Calipari. Obviously he should state at State, but I don’t think he would be a disaster.
