Stan, You’re the Reason There Aint No Love for You at Mac Court.

For the last pac-10 season at Mac Court, the University of Oregon has been trotting out honorary team captains for both teams before the start of the game.  This reached it’s climax Thursday night with Portland Trailblazer and University of Washington alumni Brandon Roy and Oregon’s most beloved basketball coach, Dick Harter, representing their universities as honorary team captains.  There has been one great ex-Duck noticeably left off the list.  Even The Register Guards own Bob Clark says Stan Love should have been invited. Sorry Bob, you got this one wrong.  And Stan Love joined John Canzano on the Bald Faced Truth yesterday to prove why he’s not an honorary duck.

On the recruitment of his son, who chose UCLA over Oregon.

If I had my choice between sending my kid to UCLA or Oregon, even though at one time i was in love with Oregon, it would be UCLA and it would be for any other parent.

I’m not going to argue with that statement at all.  If my kid were being recruited by UCLA, or Duke for that matter, I would advise him to go there over Oregon every day of the week and twice on Sunday.  But Stan, if it was as simple as that why did you say “Ernie Kent shot himself in the foot (over the recruitment of Kevin).” Or come out with a story about how Kent “kept one eye on his BlackBerry and never lifted a finger.”  If you had just said the obvious, that UCLA came calling and you can’t tell UCLA no, the hard feelings would have been minimal.  But you couldn’t help yourself and you had to blast Ernie and the program. This is not how a captain is supposed to act.

On the “Nike owned” (Stan’s words) university and the trouble the football program has recently been in:

If you want to be National Champions recruit like Miami.

Stan, you continue to say things like this and then wonder why you aren’t an honorary captain?  You continually dog on the program and the university, but then expect them to honor you as a captain? There is more to being a captain then just being good at basketball.  It also requires you to represent the program, something you fail at doing.

On who Oregon could hire to make him feel welcome at Oregon again:

I don’t know, it’s about the Pit Crew and how they treat people.  If that’s what they are teaching down there I don’t want to be part of that.

The feeling is mutual Stan.  You don’t want to be part of this program, and we don’t want you.  Good riddance.

The best came when Canzano asked him about Kevin Love’s teammate Al Jefferson, who recently was arrested for DUII.

I think the police should be gracious enough to escort him home and put him to bed.  I really do, I think they should get a little extra consideration.  Why?  Because Al was two miles from his home and everyone knows who he is.

This is epic.  After trashing Oregon’s football team and the problems they have had the last two months Stan then goes and has the back of one of his boys teammates.  Unreal.  Stan the only thing worse than an A-hole is a hypocrite.  And you are both.

    Stan Love is a joke.

As ugly as the game with Kevin at the Pit was, it was so blown out of proportion. Now, the Pit Crew did chant ‘pussy’ and KLove and during a free throw, you could clearly hear a couple of knuckleheads call him a ‘fa**ot’, and that was bad. But the stories about being showered with debris (those were the bingo cards being tossed, like at every halftime) and little kids running up and accosting him and his family, were patently absurd.

In an age where everyone has a camera in their cell phone, and knowing that FSN probably kept one cam directly covering him and his family, I find it hard to believe that none of these acts were caught on tape.

Stan Love and John Canzano are like two peas in a pod.

We have a family dog that has a problem-we can’t keep him from eating cat crap. He digs it up out of the ground and runs around with terds hanging out of his mouth. Just like John Canzano. Disgusting little creature!

Stan Love was a wonderful Oregon basketball player, and he was a hero of mine when I was a naive young lad following Duck basketball back in the day…. It’s also true that his off court exploits during those years are legendary among those who knew about such things at the time (suffice to say George Schroeder and John Canzano would have had a field day with him had they been there…..). Regardless of whether or not his son chose to come to Oregon, Stan Love’s deeds and actions during and since his time at Oregon have proven that he is not the kind of person who should ever again be honored by the University of Oregon in any way, shape, or form. His recent interview on “The Bald Faced Truth” with John Canzano is a testament to this more than anything else I could write here. The limited slots for Mac Court Honorary Captains were rightly reserved for past players and coaches whose quality of character and dedication to the University Oregon deem them as people we can be proud of…people worthy to be true heroes to those of us who really do Love our Ducks…..
