Correction, UW has 0 national titles. Youngstown St has more national titles than all D1 teams ever, combined.
The jive bomber is in denial. The Husky program isn’t worth the 5 squares of 2-ply TP that I just wiped my as with.

I love the fact that HuskeyJive dwells on the 1917 stat like it’s his saftey blanket. Oregon has been on both sides of the overrate/underrated coin so many times that I want to puke.
Who gives a shit whether a team is overrated or not? It’s ALL about the WINS baby! How many national titles? How many conference titles? How many division titles (I know the PAC-10 doesn’t have them YET)? How many Heismen winners?
Huskie fan is getting WAY out of control, someone should remind me that his team doesn’t play in the SEC!

when recruiting, douchebags or football players for that matter, lets not forget to farm instate prospects first, then you can go after that talent across the border. posts like this are just fodder for a lackluster blogging engine. c’mon sports brewery I know content is King but the next crown on this authors head should read “Oregon fans and their taste of success: Class acts or Crass Hacks”

Besides, I searched the state of Oregon from Florence to John Day. From Medford to the Dalles, there were no douches to be found. Naturally I just turned an eye up North and found a plethora.

And here we go, more talk of recent success. Define ‘taste’. Does this mean playing second fiddle to the best program in the nation the previous decade? At what point does success, or a lack there of, way the hell before anyone who gets on a computer was born become inconsequential? It’s like a Yankees fan being proud they have won 27 titles and throwing it in your face. Well guess what, most of that success happened two generations ago. Nobody cares the Yanks were good in the 20s, just like nobody cares what the hell happened in 1917 in college football.
FYI, I just became a fan of the Yanks, Celtics, Notre Dame, 49ers, and UCLA basketball. I rule.

The whole PAC-10 played second fiddle to USC the last decade. Oregon had 3 or 4 seasons with 4+ losses. They did spank CU early in the decade in the Fiesta Bowl, and then did what?? Not a whole lot of big wins, just a handful of good years. 25 percent of the teams in the county can say they had a handfull of good seasons the past decade. Huskie fan is SO miserable because all he has to look forward to is football season. They BLOW in every other sport.
As for Yankee fan, we have won 5 WS titles in the past 15 years. And yes, throwing 27 rings in people’s faces rocks! How about ‘dem apples?

Point being, Mick, that they have the 13th best winning percentage out of 120 teams in the last 10 years. So you’re right (unintentionally though) that they have had a ‘handfull’ of good seasons.

How many major bowl wins (not just BCS, talking “Capital One Bowl Week” games too)?
I don’t know the exact stats but I bet it’s a handful or two. Therefore, putting Oregon in the top 25% of teams in the 2000s.

Ranked teams at the time they played, pre season wise or at the end of the year? Because anyone can skew that stat in their favor.
Like this: In 2009 the Oregon Ducks beat two top 10 teams by the combined score of 89 to 23.

Ranked when they played usually points out that the team was hot when they played (sometimes the team is falling). I like end of the year stats because it shows how a team played the entire year; not just 4-5 solid weeks….
Dude, I like Oregon Football out of all the Pac-10 teams. I just didn’t see them as being a powerhouse the past decade. Solid teams. Plenty of solid, winning seasons, just not a big time threat in the nation.
