Camby a Blazer?

Did the Brew Crew do it again, or did the Brew Crew do it again.
While most of America is napping, we tirelessly work the wire to bruise news.
Out: Steve Blake and Travis Outlaw.
Let me just say that I love this move. Blake and Outlaw are nice little pieces (more so Outlaw) but Camby brings something the Blazers desperately need–an inside presence. Oh, and the fact that Camby is a free agent after this year isn’t the worst thing in the world either.
On the surface Camby isn’t exactly a ‘sexy’ player, though his 7.7 Ppg, 12.1 Reb, 3 Ast and 1.94 Blk, represent a very well-rounded game. According the metrics used by reamgm.com, Camby was ranked #10 in the first half. Not too shabby.
Welcome to Portland Mr. Camby, and may you make this next 1st round exit a little more exciting.
PS, if this trade doesn’t end up going down, my bad…

[...] As I’m sure many of you read on this very site last night (high five Kinger), Marcus Camby was traded to the Portland Trailblazers for Travis Outlaw and a ball boy named Steve Blake. When I first heard of this trade I thought it was a solid move, but would rather have seen the Blaze part with Rudy instead of Outlaw. Outlaw was one of two Blazers (the other being Roy) that could actually elevate and get a shot off over someone and at the very least he’s not afraid to take the big shot and has a history of making some of them. Plus he’s 6′ 8″ and kind of strong, Rudy is not. But I liked the trade because it shows that General Manager Kevin Pritchard and the front office understand the importance for this young Blaze team to get back into the playoffs. Building towards a championship is a process in the NBA, unlike in the NFL or MLB. It’s very rare for a team to go from not making the playoffs to championship contender, it’s usually a 3-5 year maturation. But after letting the trade marinate in my brain for a little bit, I’ve found an even better reason to love this trade if you are a Blazer fan. This is PERFECT. An immediate need filled. A player gone that needs to be (Blake). LA can play outside and not have it wreck the interior game. And if they don’t get Camby back next year that’s fine b/c they have the others coming off injuries. Not going to make them a contender, but it shows the front office has their heads on straight. Hope this reporting is legit.

If it were Rudy instead of Outlaw I would love this deal for the Blazers, but it’s still a solid move if it happens. It shows the that the front office of the Blazers understands the need to get back into the playoffs this year, you can’t skip years when you are trying to build towards being a championship contender.

Kevin Pritchard says deal is done.
Bye, bye Steve Blake and Travis Outlaw.
Solid trade by Blazers.
When I was at the Suns@Blazers game and saw Bayless drop 29, I thought to myself … ain’t no way Blake is wearing a Portland jersey after this season.

This move worked out in every way for the Blaze. Blake goes to give more minuets to Bayless and hopefully getting Patty Mills 8-10 a game. Camby brings the inside presence that the Blazers have been missing and now don’t have to see Juwan play center. Cambys contract expires after this year so they won’t need him next year when Oden and Pryz come back.

dang Kinger fantastic work on this story!
I agree with everything you guys are saying. i’m loving the move! it would have been better if it was Rudy but still fantastic. the best part is definitely that Bayliss will play consistent minutes now.
check that, i don’t agree with everything. ski you need to get off the Patty Mills train…its goin nowhere fast.
