Previewing the Pac in 10 Days – #10 Washington State Cougars

Posted on 23. Aug, 2010 at 7:02 am by in Beer + Stuff, PAC-10 Football

Last Year: 0-9, 10th place

The Good - Freshman Marquess Wilson looks to be an immediate improvement to the Cougars play making abilities. At 6-3 he shows promise as a wide receiver who can make plays against smaller defenders. Sophomore Jeff Tuel returns as the starting quarterback with half a year of experience under his belt. Coach Wulff is happy that Tuel reported to fall camp stronger, reportedly gaining 20-25 pounds. However his optimism goes a little too far as he had this to say about his returning starter. “His freshman marks were better than Drew Bledsoe’s stats as a true freshman at Washington State.”  Sorry if I’m not believing the next Drew Bledsoe theory quite yet.

The Bad - The whole team. Average score for the Cougars last year?  40 – 9.  Not only were they they worst in the conference, but they are in the argument of worst Pac-10 team of all time.  They averaged 250 ypg while giving up an average of 520 ypg.  How positive can returning any starters from a team that bad be?  Add in the fact they only won one Pac-10 game the year before it looks to be a long time before the Cougars become relevant again.  It seems like decades ago when the Cougars went to 2 Rose Bowls in 6 years.

The Skinny - The Cougars are clearly the worst team in the league heading into the 2010 season.  They are anemic on the road, not having won a game outside the state of Washington since they beat UCLA on October 28th of 2006! The only games I can see them standing a chance in are home games against Cal and Washington.

Prediction: 1-8 with a win in the apple cup.

Not too worry Coug fans, you’ll only have a few more years being the worst team in the league… Soon the CU Buffs will take over that crown!

It’s honestly hard to believe that a D1-A college football team can possibly give up DOUBLE the amount of yards that it gains, AND an average of four times as many points. That’s so pathetic it’s not even funny to laugh at. Well, except when Trudy is around rockin’ her WSU gear!

Oh, and the Apple Cup is the worst rivalry game in sports. The game is so worthless that it shouldn’t even be on the radio, let alone TV!

I enjoy watching the Huskies fail in the apple cup. Colorado should improve when they get to the pac since they won’t be playing intramurals brotha.

I almost feel bad for the Boogars, they are just so bad it’s not even funny.

HaHaHa! Yes, but they will still field an intramurals caliber squad man!

Oh, and I cannot tell you how funny it is to read the paper and read about the Buffs QB selection. I love the idiot hippies from Boulder and the clowns that actually attended CU and rep their gear like they’re team is worth two-shits! They are going to get flat SMOKED by Georgia at home this year to prove once again how the SEC rolls!!!!

Washington State won’t finish in the cellar. It may be 9th, but they won’t be last.

    #2 It won’t matter because they’re still garbage…
