People in Texas are Crying a River Over Pac 10 Expansion

As we first reported last week, pac 10 expansion into a super conference is heating up on this sports-less Monday.  Today I had the pleasure of catching Texas-grown Craig James give his opinion on the whole ordeal.

It’s well documented how much football means to the state of Texas.  High school football probably means more to them than the Pac 10 means to west coast schools, especially if you believe in the briliantly comedic movie that is Varsity Blues.  Today Craig James reiterated those very thoughts for the nation to hear.  He ranted about how Texas school would lose the one major recriuting tool it possesses over all other states: offering a player’s family the ability to drive to every game each Saturday.  Um, yeah, because we all know the 7 hour drives from Austin to Lubbock and Norman through the shit hole of Texas is so much nicer than catching a 4 or 5 hour flight to the Pacific Northwest.  Watch out for those armadillos!

Then it was Bob Davies’ turn to cry.  He tried to play this card: ‘don’t think of football where you travel once a week, but what about the Texas softball teams who have a Tuesday game in Pullman, WA or Eugene, OR?  It will take them all week just to get home.’

I think we can all agree what the real issue here is – Texas football doesn’t want to be strong-armed by the laissez faire group out west.  Football is their sport.  They grind in the summer heat.  They play smash mouth football.  They ain’t got nuttin’ betta to do on Friday night then go watch their 2nd cousin once removed from 2 marriages ago play back up left outside linebacker for the 8th ranked team in the 2A state polls.

You know what the funniest thing about this is: Texas is doing more whining than the Midwest Captain Cry Baby himself: Bob Stoops.

Me and my laissez fair attitude are pulling for pac 10 expansion.

PS – Go back to that high educational institution of Notre Dame, Bob, and have them teach you what an airport is.  Jackass.

PS # 2 – I won 17-3-2 in fantasy baseball last week so I feel like I can’t be touched.

Craig James is the worth thing to hit television ever. They do understand the concept of divisions don’t they? Maybe have a chat with Joe Schad every once in a while, fellas.
