In what Oregon President Richard Lariviere surely hopes is the end of the several-week saga, he testified Monday to the House Committee on Education about the series of discoveries that uncovered the $3 million buyout snafu involving former athletic director Mike Bellotti.

The biggest revelation: Bellotti sought from the university much more than he got — reportedly as much as $7 million.

Really Mike? 7 mil? I will say that I 100% supported the $3 million that he got for the like 45 minutes he was the AD. First of all, he is the most accomplished football coach in Oregon history with his 5 top 12 finishes and the #2 finish in 01-02. Secondly, does anyone believe that he wasn’t pretty much asked to step aside so that whiz-kid Kelly wouldn’t bolt back to the east coast when the ‘Cuse came calling? Lastly, $3 mil really isn’t that much money, if you figure in the 20 years he was associated with the football team, and the fact he did show loyalty by not going to SC, tOSU, ND and UCLA, when it was rumored he could have had any of those jobs if he wanted to.

But $7 mil, talk about a fucking money grab. Knowing that there was no written contract (I refuse to believe that he didn’t know that) for his time as the AD, it seems Mike just threw a total out there knowing that UO would cave to some degree.

Congrats on the coin, Mike. I look forward to continuing not to watch those sweet 9am games between Northwestern and Purdue, that you and Pam Ward will be calling in the fall.

Oregon’s athletic complex is in line for another significant facelift.

With funding from Nike co-founder and UO mega-donor Phil Knight, the Ducks are planning a new football operations center that will also require the construction of a new soccer and lacrosse facility. The university is preparing to present its basic plan for the project to the State Board of Higher Education on June 4, even though many of the specific details have yet to be finalized.

Sweet, more brand spanking new, sparkling factilites for Oregon.

My question is, at what point to the fans start to get upset that seemingly every year, more and more parking sports get taken away? Not to be rude, but fuck soccer and lacrosse. Tailgating is a much more interesting watch than those. Does Oregon just hate tailgating or something? Are the guys in power trying to turn Autzen in a wine and cheese crowd by taking away hundreds of spots that the beer swilling common man uses to get whipped up into a frenzy hours before kick off?

Yeah, yeah, I know the are claiming there will be some underground parking structure (kind of odd) and in the end a net-gain, but I’ll believe that when I see it. After all,it isn’t like Oregon puts that kind of shit down in writing or anything.

El ray – It is no secret the university hates tailgating. They announced( rather discretely) about 15 years ago that the UO was trying to get rid of it. Instead of outright banning it, they have used the Autzen lot as its expansion lot while increasing fees 10x or more for those who would like to park on the Autzen lot. Along with that, they have created university sponsored tailgaters and other sorts of fee based tents. Not to mention the crackdown on sales of alcohol and other rules geared to deter tailgating.

Pit Crew fans make up for it by being able to scream obscenities into the live mic as they sit right behind Joe Mascot and Bob Cross.

I’m surprised Ma-stole-i hasn’t dropped a slick line about the ‘Berobbery’.
