Greivis Vasquez (Terrapin) chalk Duke  -1 1/2 why Finally!  The Duke/Maryland rivalry is back.  Well, at least we’ll find out tonight if this is so.  Terp coach Gary Williams and his sweatyness have been away from the primetime spotlight for far too long.  I look forward to pulling for the kids in red against the NCAA’s version of the evil empire … aka Duke.

Malcolm Delaney (Hokie) chalk VT  -5 1/2 why Wanna really know your brackets come March Madness? Then ya gotta watch a big conference game that doesn’t include its big draws. For example, this Super Tuesday ACC game. It doesn’t have Duke or UNC, so most guys will check out what cool action flick is playing on FX instead. Not me. Wake Forest could be the sleeper team that rises up in March to storm the NCAA gates. But first, on this night, they must display some road-warrior toughness to defeat a defensive minded Hokie squad that has not lost in Blacksburg yet this season.

Deon Thompson (Tarheel) chalk Duke  -5 1/2 why This rivalry is the NCAA hoops equivalent to Sawx/Yanks. Almost every winter I circle Duke/Carolina on the calendar, twice. But seeing that the Tarheels just ain’t what they used to be, I will most likely miss the rematch in March. This game is life or tournament death for Carolina. A loss at home against a ranked team should seal their big dance fate barring an ACC tournament championship win. The only drawback to this annual thriller is the fact that Vitale almost always calls it … which means the mute button will be used in force at times.
