The Pac 10′s postseason outlook

The Pac 10′s postseason outlook

Posted on 17. Mar, 2010 at 2:43 am by in Beer + Stuff, NCAA Basketball, PAC-10 Basketball

There are now 4 postseason tournaments fielding 129 out 329 Div I teams. The Pac 10 is sending 4 teams(Cal, UW, ASU, OSU) to 3 of the 4 tournaments. At 14-17, the Beav’s are ecstatic and are sure to contend in the CBI. Lol. The Beav’s are the only team below .500 to play in any of the tournaments. They must have received an exemption for last years championship, or maybe it’s the connections Robinson has. His team is the only one from a ‘Big 6′ BCS conference in the CBI or CIT.

Not only are the CBI and CIT jokes, but the so are the coach’s and player’s reasoning for wanting to play in them. You want more games and practice? Apparently last years extra games and practice didn’t help the Beaver’s because their in the exact same spot they were a year ago. Keep up the positive attitude guys. Go ahead and pay that $60,000(CBI) or $30,000(CIT) for some extra organized grab ass. Here’s an idea coaches. Tell your player’s to go down to the rec center and play a few pick-up games. Would you rather be: Teondre Williams, in Vegas for spring break, sipping on some Caribou Lou’s with unlimited ladies around; or, Seth Tarver, playing a ‘city league’ basketball game in front of 2,000 fans at Gill Coliseum?

Because the NIT has already begun and ASU has already played, I cant really offer a preview, fortunately. In Pac 10 fashion though, the Sun Devil’s managed to muck it up late and loose to Jacksonville on a buzzer beater. Looks like Derek Glasser will be able to join Teondre in Sin City!

The only two Pac 10 teams to make the ‘big dance’ were the California Bears and the Washington Huskies. Last night I happened to crossover Comcast37 and regrettably stopped to see what ‘Softy’ was jabbering about. Regarding UW’s win over Cal in the Pac 10 championship Softy claims, “one of the greatest games in Husky history” and “people are going to remember where they were watching this game.” This was all in the first 30 seconds of watching. Was it that big of win Harry the Husky? If it is, will it still be after losing to Marquette in the opener? For the Dawgs to beat the Golden Eagles, Thomas and Overton will have to bring their ‘A’ game, something neither have.

The Bears are a top 25-30 team, but have a tough first round draw against Louisville. Then again, is there ever an easy draw in the tournament? If they get by Pitino and crew, they will then have to face Duke. I actually feel Cal is a sleeper and has a shot to go deep. With Randel at the point, Boykin down low, and the all around skills from Christopher, the Bears could do some damage. They also have a tournament vet, in coach Montgomery. Don’t sleep on Max Zhang either…Let the madness begin!

The Beavers have an extra $60,000 to buy their way into the CBI???

But they’re swimming in red ink! How does that work?

Robinson said his tie-in with Rick Giles and the Gazelle Group, “only helps if we’re good enough to make the tournament money.”

In defense of the bark rats, they HAVE to take chances like the CBI in order to get a real base excited about the basketball team. Shit, the football team has been more than solid for a decade, and still hardly ever sell out Reser (corporate sell outs…).

I saw that Boston U was crushing them earlier, so it’s a lock that this 60K gamble did not payoff.

    *Update*

$60,000 > Bark Rat 18pt. loss and 2900 fans losers

Say what you will about Softy, Joe Giansante’s still yours… I know that one stings. I’ll go to bat for my boy BUT The only reason I’ll remember the Cal PAC 10 Championship game is ’cause I was in a Sushi restaurant with the game taking up an entire wall. One of the greatest games in husky history??? that’s a stretch too but after all of the pre-season promise the dawgs struggled big time. Especially on the road. In fact the entire PAC 10 was a joke. However when you take a season of ups, downs and disappointments and finish it by reeling of 7 straight wins (6 on the road) that puts a program back on track. I’ll take a strong finish over .500 and no head coach. Good luck luring away Mark Few. I’ll hate you even more if the nike pockets get to him. AND Another thing. The Dawgs were slated to wear their Black Unis today but the NCAA said ‘No, wear purple’ WTF is THAT? We can’t wear alternates in the tournament but Oregon has more wardrobe combinations than the last 5 Pi Phi’s I’ve boned combined.

Harry, we at the NCAA only allow relevant programs to dictate what color of uniforms they will wear, sorry.

BTW, black unis? Way to steal one of Oregon’s colors.

And of course by relevant you mean… In shambles?? and as far as I know the duck hoopers have never suited in black. I do remember them sporting pink a few times. Titty cancer awareness or not that’s some sissy shit right there. Never thought the right winged lumberjacks of Oregon would allow that, Ernies boys are soft. NCAA you suck harder than Bellotti’s wife at fern ridge.
