The Chronicles of Ern-ia: The Last Battle

42-62.
In the land of cows, where fine dining almost always revolves around a trip to Dari-Mart, Oregon suffers their worst loss to the Beavers in 28 years.
So let it be written, so let it be done.
Ernie Kent is finished.
This was supposed to be the time where the ultimate magician that Ernie has become, pulled yet another rabbit out of his hat. Instead…instead we are stuck with a turd that will not flush.
Lets be honest, the sweep last week of the LA schools was nice, but it was an illusion. While both Bens Bruins and the Men of Probation are sitting at 6-5 in the league (that’s good for 2nd by the way…) we all realize this is the worst Pac, maybe ever. The Ducks are currently 4-6 and plodding along in 9th, hoo ray! So beating anyone in this league (especially at home) should be taken with a grain of salt.
That was bad basketball being played at Gill–from both teams. But the ineptitude that has Become Ernie’s final stand, parlayed it into a historic 20 point loss.
Make no mistake; that should have been the last time Ernie Kent steps into Gill as the head coach of the Oregon Ducks.
And if it’s not, that is more of an indictment on what Mike Bellotti and the brain trust up in Beaverton think of you as the ‘consumer’ of Duck basketball, than it is any affirmation of the job done by Big Ern.
If Ernie does return for another year (somehow) I fully expect Eugene to be destroyed by dragons, giant lizards and salamanders. With Father Time looking down and asking if we’d like a “do over” before calling the stars down into the sea–leaving Oregon behind in a permanent state of darkness and scorched earth.

The Pac-10 is a major log jam this year. All 10 teams are seperated by 2.5 games. There is no one clear favorite in the league because it is filled with a slew of mediocre talent. The Pac-10 is looking so shaky that I bet they don’t have a team sniff the final four this year.
