A So-Cal Season Sweep?

(No reason other than Luke has to be the coolest looking Duck in many years)
Today at 2pm, the Ducks basketball team will lace ‘em up and go to work at Pauley Pavilion attempting to pull clinch a 4-0 record against UCLA. No need to insert your Pac 10 joke here, because I’ll take care of that for you. Even though the Pac is having its worst season in recent memory, and by recent memory I mean ever, and despite a collection of talent that would struggle to field an all-star team that would win the NIT, if you’re an Oregon fan, you should be excited for this opportunity.Â
For one, it’s always nice to stick it to the Bruins. Since the Ducks almost never win there, you could see something with your own eyes we may not see again until another arena is on the way: an actual sweep of UCLA.  Another reason to watch is to see what the hell team came out of last game. Since nobody in the state of Oregon saw the game (at least it wasn’t on CSN, FSN, or any other damn Comcast channel), we have to wonder what happened in that second half vs USC. Did the Ducks completely shut them down on D, or was SC throwing up Porter-esque bricks?  According to the stats SC had a cover on the hoop. If my memory serves me correct, they posted solid numbers like 5-21 from 3 and 1-6 from the charity stripe. Talk about charity right back in Oregon’s favor.  We should also want to watch to see if this is in fact the new look Ducks. Yes, Porter is still in the game playing plenty of minutes. But it appears he’s either a) been told to quit shooting ridiculous 3s or b) finally realized he’s sucked at shooting 3s for a long time and has quit hoisting up said 3s.  From what I saw in the horrificly ugly loss to Cal, Porter pretty much lurked in the distance, driving by his man and dishing it, and shooting the occasional open jumper. WHICH IS WHAT HIS ROLE SHOULD HAVE BEEN DEFINED AS SINCE LAST SEASON.
So I’ve given you all these reasons to watch….and now you likely can’t! Thanks again, Comcast (it’s being shown on Fox College Sports, but that barely counts – not many people get that channel). If this was getting bumped for a powerhouse game like BYU/New Mexico or Mississippi/Alabama, I’d understand. But those games are on other networks. Nope, this game is getting bumped for the Blazers and Bulls. Oh, did I confuse you? Yes I said BLAZERS AND BULLS – a replay! Oh, and it’s also getting bumped by UCLA/Oregon. Confused again? Don’t be – FSN is proud to show UCLA at Oregon: Women’s Basketball! Oh look how far this Bruins and Ducks men’s “rivalry” has come, getting bumped by a re-run and a women’s game.Â
So go to a bar, order a jaeger bomb , a pitcher of beer, and enjoy the new-look Duck offense.
