Ouch! Terrence Jones picks UK over UW, Husky fans are steaming

Back on April 30th, Seattle was all smiles when star Jefferson High School senior Terrence Jones selected a Washington Huskies cap over Kentucky, Oregon, UCLA, Kansas and Oklahoma. Lorenzo Romar seemed to have his big piece of the puzzle for the 2010 season. But then, John Calipari (the snake-in-the-grass recruiter) decided to apply the full court press soon after the hat selection by calling Jones, to change his mind.
With no letter of intent signed, the fans in Seattle knew anything was possible. The stardom that Kentucky can bring to a kid can be overpowering, especially when the one-and-done philosophy is embraced in Lexington. Calipari brought his very successful NBA transition system from Memphis to Kentucky last year. And his system is simple, do what it takes to get the absolute best talent assembled for one season for a run at the Final Four, no need to plan for two years.
The allure of Lexington was too much. As of last night, Terrence Jones will play for Calipari in Lexington this fall. A bitter UW fan base is left to erase their dreams of dominating the PAC-10 this upcoming season. Husky venom towards Jones is being spewed via sports radio, email, and message boards. No doubt the Jones family won’t be vacationing in Seattle anytime soon.
Ooooooohh. But wait. A small opportunity for revenge is on the horizon for the Husky dog pound.
In late November … both Washington and Kentucky will be participating in the 8-team 2010 Maui Invitational. The bracket is not setup yet, but lets all hope that the Wildcats and Huskies do meet. It will be very interesting to see how much the Seattle press builds up this potential basketball throw-down.

The message boards have been fun to read. Apparently UWs delusions of grandeur carry on to the basketball court as well…

Yeah I read some comments on a seattle times piece, freaking hilarious. This is a no brainer, just like Singler to Duke and Love to UCLA.

Just remember that Jones never signed the binding LOI, but just a financial aid package, meaning he can still bail when Cal ends up coaching LeBron in the League. You know what that means? Hello Mr. Jones, and welcome to Matt Court….

King is a prophet. If Jones to Oregon happens after Jones to UW was denied AND Cal and Bron hook up, the state of Washington might as well implode into the center of the earth.
Someone should create a video game where shit like this happens.

Even if that doesn’t happen the state of Washington might as well implode into the center of the earth.
