Yeah, yeah, it’s the most storied rivalry in all of sports, I get it. But, I don’t remember the glory years. Sure I got a taste of the glory days back in 08 as the vastly superior Celtics crushed Kobe, Phillip, Mr. Kardashian and the Euros, but that’s it really.

It may as well be Spurs vs Nets.

Okay, I take that back, no one wants to see that kind of  muck again.

But honestly, if you can wax poetic about this rivalry, you are out of my age bracket and we most likely aren’t friends. So I don’t want to hear about it.

While ESPN and ABC will be forcing this shit down your throat, do you really care? I mean, is this going to be a “transcendent” series? The answer is most likely no.

For every clip of Magic going sky hook over seemingly the entire city of Boston,  Bill Russell dunking on short white dudes, or Larry Bird drilling 3s like Magic did groupies, I’ll really just be picturing Antoine Walker doing his shimmy through fraudulent playoff runs, or Delonte West and Wally World dropping 58 games in 06-07.

This storied rivalry carries zero weight in my book, none.

Besides the lack of cache this deal holds in my heart, does anyone expect this to really be a great ‘visual experience.’ Aside from Kobe, Rondo and the occasional flashy burst from Pierce, these teams play ugly, and if the Celtics have their way they will make this series look like the love child of John Elway and Courtney Love ( you like those relevant references…) If you took the names off the chest and made the players faceless, this would almost resemble some Big10 offenses in the Fall.

Don’t get me wrong, Paul Pierce and his quiet strength, are my boys, but this may hurt the eyes and be a very forgettable series. But again, I loved Bonzi Wells and have ‘Toine as my #2 favorite all time non-Blazer, so what do I know about basketball.

Here is to a great series, a lot of undue hype, pink hats and the Celtics in 6.
