Blazers lose in another lackluster effort

22 turnovers, 3-20 from 3 and another poor 4th quarter. Just another day in Blazer land. Since Roy has been sidelined this Blazer team has been looking for some sort of consistency and they’re just not finding it. One night the offense is moving the ball well and getting good shots, the next game they’re shooting against the shot clock every possession and turning the ball over to many times. Not to mention how inconsistent the players have been in this stretch. Andre Miller scores 52 in a game then has 3 straight games under 12 points. Blake and Rudy have games where they are draining every shot from outside then have a game like they did last night where they combined to shoot 0-11 from the field including 0-10 from 3. And don’t even get me started on Martell, who other than pretty much winning the game going 5-5 from 3 against San Antonio has been the worst shooter in the NBA. I thought that the Blaze could at least tread water without Roy playing, but seeing how they look without him I’m convinced he should be the MVP.
With the all-star game coming up this weekend and the trade deadline drawing I’m intrigued to see what kind of moves the Blaze make or don’t make. Looking at this team even with Roy and Outlaw coming back I don’t see any real way that this team can make a deep playoff run, so I’m hoping that the front office makes some moves to better the team.
The first thing they need to address is if they plan on having Andre Miller be the point guard of the future. If not they need to move him soon to a team that is needing a point guard for the playoff push and try to get back some front court help. If they plan on keeping Miller than Blake has got to go because Bayless is clearly the guard for the future and Blake being there is just slowing his progress.
The other thing they need to address is what they are going to do with the bevy of wing players they have. With Martell, Rudy, Batum and Outlaw they have to many players and not enough minutes to go around. I don’t see any reason that they should move Batum who I think is the future for the Blazers and they just gave Martell a shit ton of money (Why they did that is mind boggling), so that leaves Rudy and Outlaw. Now Outlaw would have been the best player to move after his nice year last year but after his recent injury I don’t know how high GMs are on him now, so that leaves Rudy. A package deal with Rudy and Blake, or Rudy and Miller could reward the Blazers with a nice front court player for the future.
The other more likely to happen option is the Blaze do nothing and continue to play the rest of the year with Howard as our center and a slew of players all wanting minutes that they just don’t have, to maybe make the playoffs and lose first round.
As a Blazer fan these next 2 months are going to be tough to watch.

They could get quite a nice big man for LA. They could not only get a good big man in return but that would solve their problem of having too many wing players. When your 2-4 guys play wing, you have a log jam.

Portland will not make any moves because they really don’t have anyone that teams need. They have an abundance of par to sub-par talent. Granted, Howard and Roy are having pretty good years. It will be 50-50 whether they collapse against the west and miss the playoffs. If they do get in then they will only get ROCKED by either the Lakers or my Nuggets….
